Do You Want To Know Your Future?

Friday, October 30, 2009

I'm guessing that many of the questions for today's Aloha Friday, graciously hosted by An Island Life, are going to be Halloween related.

Trying not to steer too far from such an appropriate theme, I'm going to play with a something different from the mysterious and (somewhat) dark side.

Fortune telling. Psychics. Predicting the future.

My Question:

Assuming that you wanted to, what is ONE thing you would like to know about your future?

My Answer:

I had to think long and hard about this answer. I think I would want to know my date of death. Not that I'm particularly morbid, but by knowing that date I could be guaranteed to have my affairs in order and to have said my good-byes.

If I Thought This Would Work

...I would have one up at my door today!

Of course, some days my teens wouldn't be allowed inside.

But is that really a bad thing? ;P

CASH FOR CLUNKERS...I QUALIFY

Thursday, September 3, 2009

I received this in an email earlier today and it was so hilarious I just had to share.

It was so funny because I could relate. Am I alone?

IF MY BODY WERE A CAR...

If my body were a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model.

I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish, and my paint job is getting a little dull.

But that's not the worst of it.

My headlights are out of focus, and it's especially hard to see things up close.

My traction is not as graceful as it once was.

I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather.

My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins.

It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed.

My fuel rate burns inefficiently.

But here's the worst of it -

Almost every time I sneeze, cough or laugh, either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires.

CASH FOR CLUNKERS . . . I QUALIFY!

How about You?

What's The One Thing You Couldn't Live Without?

Friday, August 21, 2009

We've all got something that we couldn't live without.

Or think so anyway.

I'm not talking about food, clothing, shelter - needs.

I'm talking about a want that we've turned into a need.

For me, it's a book.

I always have to have something to read. And if I find myself without a book, it's like I'm a lost puppy. I just don't know what to do.

Most everyone else I know would say: internet, television, cell phone, computer, dishwasher.

Not me. I'm a nerd. I can live without those things as long as I have a book.

My Question:

What's the One Thing You Couldn't Live Without?

Stop The Stupid Commercials, Please!

Friday, June 26, 2009

Seems like every time the television is on these days, I'm bombarded with stupid commercials.

I seriously get the impression that advertising agencies think we're all a bunch of lame-brained zombies who don't know our heads from our behinds.

The one that seems to annoy the most these days is the Swiffer commercials.

If my mop sends me a bouquet of flowers, I'm not going to roll my eyes and shut the door.

I'm going to FREAK OUT!! Especially if I see an (obviously) "living" mop lurking in the bushes watching the delivery.

Come on! Give me a human stalker any day!

So, my question to you this week is:
What commercial do you really hate?

What Does Your Favorite Color Say About You? (Aloha Friday)

Friday, May 29, 2009

I've got to admit it. Lately I've been spending way too much time on Facebook. It's just so much fun to hook up with old friends - and play with some of the apps.

One I was messing around with the other day was about what your favorite color says about you.

The colors and what they say about one's personality is:

  • Yellow: Yellow is the color of the creative and artistic individual. If it's your favorite, you have a cheerful spirit and are inclined to be intellectual, idealistic and imaginative.

  • Blue: Blue, the color of tranquility, the color of the sea and the sky, is both the color of peace and the color of royalty. If blue is your favorite color, you crave harmony. You are capable, sensitive and make an outstanding friend. You are cautious in your manner of dress and conscientious at whatever you're working on.

  • Green: Green reminds us of freshness, security, jealousy and camouflage. It symbolizes new growth and increases our sense of well-being. If it's your favorite, you are an affectionate, loyal friend who is inclined to be frank and moral. You're a person whose reputation is very important to you and when you start something, you finish it.

  • Red: Dynamic red is the color of love, courage, anger and joy. It demands attention and helps create a cheerful atmosphere. If you prefer red, you are impulsive, possibly athletic, sexy and given to mood swings. You are determined to experience life to its fullest.

  • Orange: The color of autumn was named in the tenth century after the fruit. If orange, the color of heat, fire and the harvest is your favorite color, you probably get along well with others. You tend to be social and hate to be alone. If you're feeling down in the dumps, adding a tad of orange to your day can help.

My Question:

What Is Your Favorite Color? Does It Match Your Personality?

My Answer:

My favorite color is red; and it couldn't describe me better.

What Was The Number One Song On The Day You Were Born? (Aloha Friday)

Friday, May 8, 2009

An Island Life has put together a wonderful meme called Aloha Friday. If you'd like to learn more and/or join in, be sure to visit An Island Life!

My Topic For This Week: A friend of mine discovered a site the other day that will tell you what the number one song was the day you were born.

Since it's impossible for us to remember a popular song from the day we were born (and if you say you do, you're lying! lol), the visit to Josh Hoshler's The #1 Song On This Day In History site was interesting.

My Question:

What was the number one song on the day you were born?

My Answer:

Angie by Rolling Stones

What TV Character Are You Most Like? (Aloha Friday)

Friday, April 17, 2009

My Question for This Week:

What television character (past or present) do you think you are most like and why?

My Answer:

I think I am most like the character Judy (Jami Gertz) on Still Standing. Like her, I'm married to a man who is nothing but a big kid himself while still masquerading as a functioning adult. And just as Judy (along with Bill) was always embarrassing her children, either by trying too hard to be a good mom or reliving her own teen years, my own children (well, the two oldest) are constantly trying to ditch me because they claim I do the same thing.

Thanks for playing along this week! I can't wait to read your answers!
