How to Make Spirit Flips: Decorative Flip Flops for Cheerleaders

Monday, April 6, 2009

Looking for neat ideas to help your squad bond and add a little pizzaz to your uniform accessories? These neat, easy to make cheerleading flip flops - called Spirit Flips - are the perfect project!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • 24 yards of grosgrain ribbon in your choice of colors and styles (12 yards for children's sizes)

  • Flip Flops

  • Scissors

  • Fray Check

  • Yard Stick

Step 1: Gather all the materials as listed above.

Step 2: Using the yard stick, cut the ribbon into six inch increments.

Step 3: Using one strand at a time, tie the ribbon sections in double nots onto the "thong" part of the flip flops. Alternate colors and sides as you go.

Step 4: Once the thong is completely covered in ribbon, trim extra long pieces as needed to blend with the remainder of the ribbon.

Step 5: Use the Fray Check as directed to seal the ribbon ends to prevent fraying. A heat sealing method may also be used.

And that's it! So easy, so fun! Cheerleaders of all ages can easily complete this craft project!

Product Review & Giveaway: Trumpette Pixies for Newborn Baby Girls (Closed)

Sunday, March 29, 2009

WINNER: YZgirl4

As I've said many times before here, I was thrilled when I was blessed with a daughter in January 2009, after having three boys.

Even before her arrival, I was filling closets and drawers with frilly little outfits, lacy socks, and hair bows. My house was (and still is) an ocean of pinks, purples, yellows, and greens.

One of the most favorite items that I had when our bundle of joy arrived home was a pair of the Trumpette Pixie Booties in black and white.

Since it can be pretty impractical to put real shoes on a newborn's feet, these adorable booties give you the best of both worlds: the appearance of Capezios while actually only wearing socks!

Pixies come in a variety of colors. These booties are size 0 to 12 months, so your little one is sure to sport her classy "shoe socks" for quite some time!

Each pair comes in their own gift box. Trumpette Pixies make a perfect baby shower gift too!

Buy It! A selection is available at the Trumpette website and even greater selections can be found at one of their many retailers such as Anna Bean, Baby Bella, Trenditikes, Missfitz, and many others!

Win It! Win a pair of Trumpette's black and white Pixies! Here's all you need to do:
  • Visit the Trumpette website to see their complete line of products. Come back and leave a comment telling me which Trumpette product is your favorite along with their name and email address (if not in your profile).
