Overpriced Baby Formula Does Not Equate to Quality

Recently I came across an article about the Similac formula recall. In September, Abbott Laboratories warned the public that certain lots of Similac powered baby formula may contain beetles or their larvae.
That's just disgusting!
Now, I'm not so naive to believe that there isn't a certain amount of "stuff" in all of the foods we purchase, but when it becomes enough for a recall...well, even I get concerned.
So exactly what is a parent to do?
This recall shows that being brand name or high cost doesn't equate to the better option. So I recommend saving a fortune over that first year and choosing a store brand formula - which are just as healthy for your baby without the ridiculous price tag.
Your baby is already using an overpriced formula and you would like to switch to generic formula? It's not impossible - just talk to your little one's pediatrician about what's best for your baby and how to go about making this transition easiest for him/her.
I have four children. I know how easy it is to believe that the higher the price, the better the quality. Take it from someone who has been there, done that and knows that isn't always the case.

Wellllll....I struggled with this one...In the past. I was a dedicated purchaser of a certain brand of formula....I primarily nursed our 6 kids but I always supplimented....only 1 kid absolutly reject the bottle NO MATTER WHAT=)
Anyway, recently I noticed a 7 dollar jump in price for the SAME formula I had been purchasing I quickly got over my reservations...
