Win a $25 Dollar Kroger Gift Card Because I Had An AWESOME Savings Day!
Thursday, March 11, 2010
I just have to brag about the day I have had. When it comes to saving money (one of my top 3 hobbies), this day couldn't have gotten ANY better.
Savings number 1: Promo code for a free movie at Walgreen's Redbox.
Savings number 2: Free Route 44 drink from Sonic for taking a less-than-1-minute telephone survey about service.
But it's savings number 3 that you really want to hear about...
I was contacted by My Blog Spark™ about Kroger's week long Cart Buster Savings event along with a $25 gift card courtesy of Kroger and General Mills.
From now through March 14th, shop the Cart Buster Savings Event and find the hottest prices around on your favorite name-brand products in over 60 categories at the Kroger Family of Stores, which includes Kroger, Ralph’s, King Soopers, City Market, Dillons, Smith’s, Fry’s, QFC, Baker’s, Owen’s, Jay C Food Stores, Hilander, Gerbes, Food4Less, Pay Less Super Markets and Scott’s Food & Pharmacy.
Here are just a few of the great brands participating in the event: Honey Nut Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Hamburger Helper, Yoplait, Progresso, Totino’s, Green Giant, Cascadian Farm, Tide, Charmin, Bounty, Pampers, Pantene, Crest, Iams, Febreze, Old Spice and many more!
I downloaded my local weekly sales ad at Kroger.com, grabbed a calculator, and pulled out my coupon organizer.
For a grand total of $7.09, I was able to accumulate all the items seen in the photo to the right.
How? Well, first there was the complimentary $25.00 gift card. Add to that $7.34 in coupons plus $3.60 in bonus coupon savings (double coupons).
PLUS, I received 2 $1.00 off next Kroger purchase coupons.
So, technically, my GRAND total spent would be $5.09.
Oh yeah, that's sweet!
And the deal gets better.....FOR YOU!
Kroger and General Mills through My Blog Spark™ is offer ONE lucky reader of The Mom Trap to save money on their next Kroger shopping trip with a $25.00 Kroger gift card.

I look over the ads in advance and pair sales with coupons. I have been know to go to multiple stores even to buy just one or two items depending on what items they have on sale. Thanks for the opportunity
I use coupons.... it's such a waste to throw them out. Use them!!!

Favorite grocery savings tip-shop on sale, study the ad ahead and match with coupons.
Check for Manager's Specials. I get a lot of meat on sale this way - she marks it down on Sunday morning.

use the coupons that come out of the auto-coupon at the checkout, they can be used asap.
Be nice to the managers of the departments. It only takes a minute to say hello to them. When I wanted to make a huge batch of chutney, I asked the produce manager if I could get a discount on mangos. He gave me a huge bag of them for three dollars.

I always use coupons and check to see if I'm getting a better deal for my money. Plus I love that Kroger sends you coupons for items you buy often!
I go through the sales circular and make a list. Then I go online and search for any coupons that match these items, along with the coupons I already have. And stick to the list!

Get a coupon organizer and use it.
Never go to the grocery store on an empty stomach! Then you won't be tempted to buy what you don't need.

Grocery shopping tip......don't always buy something just because you have coupons. Sometimes there is still a product on the shelf that is exactly the same, but still cheaper than the other product with a coupon. Also, generic is the same in most cases, so don't be afraid to buy generic. You can save so much money. Thanks.

Use coupons. Make a shopping list from the grocery's flyers. Shop at more than one store, if necessary. And stock up on sales.
I clip coupons and wait for the item to go on sale at the store and stock up

I stock up on basics when they go on sale. I also look at the ad before I go shopping.

For me, the best way to save money, is to make a list ahead of time with all your coupons attached to that list and only have enough money in your wallet to cover what is on your list. That way, you're not tempted to buy anything extra. :)

My best shopping tip is to look at all the ads (whether you get them in the mail/paper or look them up online) and make a list of sale items you can stock up on. I also find coupons online and print them out. Some go to waste, but it's better to be prepared!

My tip is to check the clearance section for fresh meat. If I need to pick something up for dinner very often I find fresh meat on clearance at times up to 50% off. Thanks.
I always look for the "manager's special" tags for the things that are reduced for quick sale. Meat can always be used quickly or frozen, other things are good long past their "expiration" dates.
Coupons, coupons, coupons! When we go to our local Dillons store, I always check out the managers specials, which seem to be located in the corners of the store. We have gotten some unbelievable bargains there. Like Pillsbury pie crust for $.99, which I used coupons on (even though the cashier said I couldn't, that it wouldn't work, suprise, it did)to bring the price down to $.49 a box! Crazy!
I have an award for you on my blog. http://alittleoftheother.com. Please stop by and right click on the award and save. Then follow the instructions that are there.

Spices in the bulk bins cost a fraction of the jarred or canned spices. Huge savings, plus if there's something you only use a couple times a year, you can buy only what you need so none goes to waste before it loses it's flavor.

I love Kroger and in fact I was there tonight! The best tip I can give is to make sure you look for the "managers specials" stickers and the clearance items. You can really stock up on some fantastic deals! To make it even sweeter, bring the coupons.
My favorite way to save on groceries is to look at sales fliers and online lists, then match coupons to sales and THEN make my meal plan and write a grocery list. Doing all of these in order has slashed our family grocery budget by 30%!!!

Saving money is paramount. I shop wherever milk is on sale this week because milk is the only thing that I absolutely must buy. Everything else doesn't matter so much, so we shop exclusively sale items and use coupons on top of those. It saves time and gas instead of buying specific things that are on sale at different stores and makes for interesting dinners when we don't know if its going to be chicken or steak or tacos or waffles... whatever is on sale and I have a coupon for! Thanks for the giveaway, Kroger is definitely on my list of places to shop (depending on their price of milk).
